Eric Young named 'Lifetime Achievement Award' in the RAW Compliance Awards 2021
Eric Young is the CEO of Young Enterprises LLC and EthicalPebble Publishing, an Adjunct Professor at the Fordham School of Law (New York City) and the author of 'Declaration of Independence - How Compliance and the Board Can Hold Management More Accountable'.
Eric has 40 years’ regulatory and CCO experience with the Fed, JP Morgan, GE (handling FCPA, KYC issues over their healthcare, energy, other industrial and Capital businesses), S&P Global Ratings, and four foreign banks including most recently, as CCO of BNP Paribas Americas (the large French bank with major US wholesale and retail banking activities).
His industry experience has provided him with the platform to energize public opinion, regulatory policy and enforcement. He is a frequent speaker/author, and has been featured in the American Banker, Wall Street Journal and Reuters and is currently teaching Corporate Compliance at the Fordham University School of Law in New York City.
"I want to drive a compliance philosophy globally that the board, Chief Compliance Officer and good-faith whistleblowers are powerful partners to embed long-term ESG objectives into our day-to-day business and ethics decisions. I believe that there are many effective ethics & compliance officers and teams across the globe that want to do the right thing and together we can drive productive change."
What advice would you give to aspiring individuals in your field?
"Never give up, and remember that nothing is impossible no matter the challenge. And don't fall prey to short-term business pressure, ever. You can add strategic value while being independent with integrity."
